UAF VS. Lake Superior State To Wrap Up Hockey Week In Fairbanks
We are approaching the end of Hockey Week here in Fairbanks and your main event will be the UAF Nanooks taking on the Lake Superior State Lakers.
The Nanooks have dropped 3 out of their last 4 games, including getting shut out in both games in last weekends series against Northern Michigan and their NCAA record-setting goalie.
The Nanooks fired 87 shots at Northern Michigan Goaltender Atte Tolvanen during the weekend series, but he turned back every single one to secure his 5th shutout in a row and tie the NCAA Record.
Now, The Nanooks will look to turn their momentum around in their last home series of the season this Friday and Saturday at the Carlson Center.
Not only will they be looking for a momentum change, but they will also be looking to send off their seniors on a good note.
Saturday will be the last game at the Carlson Center for four seniors: Marcus Basara, Josh Erickson, Davis Jones, and Brandon Morley.
This senior game is special because those four have been playing here together all four years. They came in together as Freshmen in 2013.
The 'Nooks are also hoping to keep their spot in the WCHA Standings. They are currently in a tie for that 8th place spot, which is the final spot reserved for the playoffs.
It is a very tight playoff race as only two conference points separate 5th through 8th place.
The puck drops tomorrow and Saturday night at the Carlson Center at 7:00 p.m.
We spoke with Head Coach Dallas Ferguson about the state of the team heading into a very crucial series.
