Three Suspects Arrested, Charged With Stealing ATM From Goldstream General Store
Three men have been arrested and charged with felonies for allegedly stealing an ATM located inside of Goldstream General Store.
Last Friday, Alaska State Troopers received a tip from a person who recognized the vehicle that was shown in security footage of the incident; that person directed officers to a Fred Meyer parking lot, where Troopers arrested the three suspects.
35-year-old Joshua Ritter, 55-year-old Scott Jackson and 35-year-old Robert Strickland are charged with felony counts of burglary, theft and criminal mischief, as well as misdemeanor counts of trespass.
The three men allegedly used a chain attached to a pickup truck to break open the door to Goldstream General Store; they then picked up the ATM and loaded it into the pickup.
According to charging documents, Ritter confessed to the crime during an interview with Troopers, and Jackson confessed in a later interview.
Jackson stated that the ATM was allegedly opened using a crowbar and a sawz-all.
Approximately $1,900 was stolen from the ATM.
The damage to the store is estimated at between one and two-thousand dollars.
