Senators Throw Support Behind Automatic Voter Registration
U.S. Senators Lisa Murkowski and Dan Sullivan have announced their support for Alaska Ballot Measure 1, the PFD Automatic Voter Registration Initiative.
The ballot measure, if approved by voters in the general election on November 8th, would instruct Alaska Division of Elections to automatically register qualified Alaskans to vote when they apply for the PFD.
Applicants would have the option to opt out, and voter information would remain confidential under existing state law.
According to John-Henry Heckendorn, the campaign manager for the PFD registration ballot initiative, the goal is to help increase voter registration.
