North Pole Middle School Students Win Verizon's Innovative Learning App Challenge
A group of North Pole Middle School students won 'Best in Nation' in the fifth annual Verizon Innovative Learning App Challenge today.
The nationwide contest challenges students to come up with a design proposal for a mobile app concept, aimed at improving and solving issues in their local communities and schools.
Their app concept is called 'In-Reach'. It's an app that helps people with PTSD log their own symptoms, and also provides access to local PTSD specialists.
The team from North Pole Middle School will receive 20,000 dollars for their school, and an all-expense-paid trip to the 'Technology Student Association' Conference in Orlando, Florida.
That conference is set for June 2017.
Pepsi LaMar, from Verizon Foundation in Anchorage, says she couldn't have been more proud of the North Pole Middle School students who participated in the challenge.
