The public funeral service for fallen Fairbanks Police Sgt. Allen Brandt was held yesterday at the Carlson Center.
Brandt died of complications from surgery October 28th, after being wounded in a shoot-out a week before.
Governor Walker addressed the gathering, along with city mayor Jim Matherly, acting Police Chief Brad Johnson, and others.
The service ended with the traditional 21 gun salute, the playing of Taps, and Amazing Grace.
Two hundred two balloons, symbolizing Allen's badge number, were released after the ceremony.
Governor Walker noted that some had travelled long distances to honor the fallen officer.
