FNSB School District Holds Public Budget Forum At North Pole High
The Fairbanks North Star Borough School District held a 'budget forum' Wednesday evening at North Pole High for residents to learn and ask questions about next year's proposed school budget.
District Superintendent, Karen Gaborik, met with the Board of Citizens Budget Committee and collected input from staff, teachers and principals before creating what she believes is a budget that's responsible and sustainable.
The school board will begin work sessions next week to review the proposed budget.
After the board has made its recommendations, the budget will be sent to the Borough for further review.
Gaborik is excited to bring full day kindergarten, as well instructional aids and tutors to the district.
If residents were unable to attend the forum in North Pole, there will also be two more meetings: one scheduled for Wednesday February 22nd at Ryan Middle, and then Wednesday March 8th at U-Park Elementary.
Both meetings are from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m.
Gaborik also encourages residents to make opinions known to both the legislature and the school board.
