Jaime Schwartzwald

Came to Alaska: 1976. “While my parents weren’t quite “hippies” they did want to kind of get off the grid. We ended up in Salcha, Alaska. I was 11 years old when I re-experienced what it was like to live with indoor plumbing. Growing up in Salcha was great, and you could generally find me in one of three places: the Salcha ski trails, the Salcha bluff, or in the Salcha River.”

High School: Ben Eielson High School, 1990 graduate.

College: Edward R. Murrow School of Communication at Washington State University, 2001 Bachelor of communication.

Favorite sport teams: Minnesota Vikings, Minnesota Twins, Minnesota Timberwolves… and the Minnesota Wild. I cheer for all WSU Cougar athletics as well.

Hobbies: golf, fishing, video games, and getting sick video shots

Favorite food: My mom’s burritos.

Favorite movie: “Payback” with Mel Gibson

Music: Heavy Metal, some new metal, classic rock, limited rap.

Favorite part about working for News 13: “Duh, I get paid to go to sporting events. I really like the challenges of shooting high quality highlights. Each sport is different, and takes different methods to catch the essence of the competition. I also really enjoy the people I get to meet and the great relationships I’ve formed with some of the local athletic organizations. But without a doubt, the best part is when I interview a young athlete, and they are so proud to be on “TV.” There are so many stars in the Interior, I’m just lucky enough to share their stories with my viewers.”
